Beyoncé – Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)

Being single can absolutely be fabulous!  I know this for 2 reasons:

#1. There are a lot of bottles of prosecco in my recycling bin.

#2. Beyoncé told me so.

Queen Bey isn’t alone though – Kelly consoles us with what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, Taylor warns she’s got a blank space for your name, and Ariana preaches about breaking free.  And we can’t leave out the gentlemen…Bon Jovi screams about it being his life (boo-ya), Jason is finally doin’ him, and Lil’ Wayne?  He ain’t trippin’ on nothin’, he’s just sippin’ on somethin’ (as usual).

Man, sometimes there is just nothing better than putting on one of these tunes, blasting the ipod player, and dancing around with your friends seriously like no one is watching…

…not that I know anything about that.

But other times, you think, “Yeah, okay Taylor, I’ll make that mistake…and then I’ll binge on Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream and dye my hair brown”.

These ladies and gents truly do have it right a lot of the time.  You know what?  If you liked Beyoncé, you SHOULD have put a ring on it!  Jason, heck yeah, you GET to that club and rejoice in being single!

As much fun as it is to celebrate this glamorous single life with drinks and booty-dancing, is it also okay to sometimes feel like it’s not-so-glam?  It’s amazing to have this motivational, kick-butt music to help you get your groove back, but also, is it okay to sometimes skip them when they come up on shuffle?

After all – Beyoncé wrote “Single Ladies” for us (which mostly manages to embarrass our population in some way at weddings), and then….

she went home to Jay-Z.

This (and my Beyoncé impression) is why I’m single.
